The Pickaway County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Canal Days celebration is scheduled for Sept.19 at the Canal Park on Canal Road.  At 12:30 p.m. the American Revolution Re-enactors will conduct the opening ceremony with the raising of the flag. 

    Food and beverages will be provided by the Savings Bank and members of the PCHGS. Karen Bensonhaver will fry Johnny cakes.  At 1 p.m. Tony Ellis and Louise Adkins will perform canal and riverboat songs. At 2 p.m. a meeting will be held with president Charlie Weaver presiding. 

    Native American artifacts and canal history, including Ned Harden’s canal photos, will be on display. Kevin Coleman will be wearing canal-era attire, and volunteers will be present to answer questions.

    Activities will conclude at 4 p.m., but the Canal Park will be open all day for those who want to fish, launch a boat, or hike on the canal trails.
