Pastor Timothy Throckmorton

.

Years ago, I was sitting on the rock fence looking across the vast expanse toward the tree line where Pickett’s Charge began in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This historic infantry assault ordered by Confederate General Robert E. Lee against Union positions on Cemetery Ridge on July 3, 1863, led to what we now know as the high-water mark of the confederacy. As I sat there, I pondered with a heavy heart the blood that was shed on these hallowed fields surrounding me — blood that was shed in battle in hopes that the nation that they and I love would be preserved. This Veterans Day, we are reminded once again of the great cost of our freedom.
