As one small business owner to another, I would like to commend Harry Rubin and Block’s Shoes on the conclusion of a long and successful history of retail service to Circleville, Pickaway County, and surrounding communities.
On my arrival in Circleville in 1975, Moses Block could still be seen around the store run by David Block and ably assisted by his nephew, Harry.
With a front-row seat from across the street, I observed an example of how a small business can survive and thrive from year to year and decade to decade to decade. Hard work. Loyal customers. Trust.
Small businesses that last 90 years are an anomaly. Not easy to do. In fact, most fail within five years.
Harry – enjoy the golf, enjoy the sun, enjoy life.
A job well done!
