CIRCLEVILLE — Joining the Berger Health Partners Northridge office with Dr. Bolender and Nurse Practitioner Heather Miller is Matthew Johnston, DO.
Dr. Johnston graduated from Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He spent a month of his residency at Berger Family Medicine’s Northridge location and found a passion for building relationships with patients and helping to treat different conditions for all ages.
Dr. Johnston specializes in Family Medicine and will see patients of all ages. He enjoys the challenge of taking care of the whole family and treating a variety of ailments and conditions. Dr. Johnston is an avid world traveler and has visited the countries of Belize, Benin, Papua New Guinea and France. He is fluent in English and French.
During this time, one of Pickaway County’s longest serving physicians will transition into retirement during the next several months through April 2018. Dr. Vernon Bolender of Berger Health Partners will continue seeing patients two days a week, but will not take any new patients. Dr. Bolender, who has been at the Northridge location for 37 years, will help transition Dr. Johnston into the practice.
“It will be difficult to leave a practice where I have been working with people I’ve known my whole life. During this transition, I’m excited to be able to travel and see my children and grandchildren more,” said Dr. Bolender.
Dr. Johnston looks forward to establishing his home in Pickaway County and becoming an active member of the community.
“Dr. Bolender has had a huge impact on the Pickaway County community and has enjoyed living in this community, treating his friends and neighbors, and building relationships and trust with his patients,” said Dr. Johnston. “I hope that I can do the same and have the same impact as Dr. Bolender.”
