SALTCREEK TOWNSHIP - An Ashville woman was killed Saturday as the result of a motorcycle accident on state Route 56 East near South Perry Road.
Glenna Slusher, 62, a passenger on a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle driven by her husband, Ralph Slusher, 61, was transported by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus following the accident, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, the Slushers were traveling westbound on Route 56 about 4:15 p.m. Saturday when the motorcycle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.
Sgt. John Schleich said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
"There is a sharp curve right there where it happened, and I don't know what Mr. Slusher's experience is in operating a motorcycle," Schleich said. "Both parties were ejected about 30 feet past the motorcycle over the guardrail."
Ralph Slusher was treated at Berger Hospital and then transported to Grant Medical Center for additional treatment. He remained hospitalized Saturday evening.
Schleich said neither of the victims was wearing a helmet.
