Fatal bicycle accident

Brandon Wolfinger, 16, was killed after being thrown from his bike about 30 yards from the point of impact in a traffic crash Saturday night.

CIRCLEVILLE - A 16-year-old Logan Elm High School student was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car while riding his bike along Tarlton Road.

Brandon Wolfinger, of Schumacher Road, was declared dead at the scene by Dr. Michael Geron, assistant Pickaway County Coroner.

According to Sgt. John Schleich, Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, Wolfinger was riding his bike about 8:41 p.m. near Morris-Leist Road when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Amy Rowland, 37, of Tarlton.

Wolfinger hit the windshield of the vehicle and was thrown about 30 yards from the point of impact, Geron said. He is believed to have died instantly from an open skull fracture.

No autopsy will be performed, and no charges are expected to be filed in the accident, Schleich said.
