Three Pickaway County athletes competed on Friday during the first day of the state meet held at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
In Division II, Circleville junior Peyton Perini finished 11th in the 400 preliminaries in 59.21
Nine of the 18 athletes in the pair of events qualified for the final.
Roger Bacon sophomore Alexandria Lewis grabbed the final qualifying spot in 59.15. Indian Hill senior Anna Podokjil topped the field in 55.55.
Westfall sophomore Marcus Whaley finished 13th in the 300 hurdles preliminaries in 40.30.
Steubenville senior Anthony Rice was the final qualifier for today’s final, finishing ninth in 39.51. John Glenn senior Joseph Clifford topped the field in 38.23
In Division I, Teays Valley junior Dale Hubbard finished 11th in the 100 in 11.01.
Solon junior Greg Parries earned the last qualifying spot for the final with his time of 10.97.
Pickerington Central senior Denzell Feagin won the 100 preliminaries in 10.61.
Action continues today with Amanda-Clearcreek senior Noah Smith and Logan Elm junior Haden Karshner competing in the Division II discus at 9:30 a.m. while, inside the stadium, Logan Elm senior Lynne Dale will compete in the pole vault at the same time.
